How many hobbies can you have in lotro
You would walk no running allowed! You'd do this a few times for each map the devs would decide what cartography skill you'd need for surveying a particular area. Success would be notes you could turn in to a cartography guild sell for a few silver like goldfish, bitterlings, etc. Great success would be maps you could hang on your wall like taxidermy fishes , failure would be a LOT of time spent walking about with muddy boots. Edit: Plus sides include, the similarity to existing programming fishing hobby and we even have the action of writing, so no new avatar action would need to be coded.

After all Join Date Dec Posts 4, A new hobby in my opinion I know we already get this 3 times a year as an event, and deeds throughout the game in some regions but they are not hobbies, But Treasure Hunting could be added as a hobby to be able to dig almost anywhere in game except towns to dig and find stuff like junk Fishing gives junk , or get token to trade for housing items like artifacts turn in the token to a barter basically scholar like person.
Laurelin Server, Edwell Man Hunter. Races are a good idea, and could involve speed contests over various distances. Each region would have various timed challenges, ranging in difficulty, and the difficulty would increase from region to region, perhaps Ered Luin being the starter region. There could perhaps be 'point-to-point' contests as well.
Players could also compete against other players times. For example, when you completed a race, your time could be logged, and would be visible for all to see. There would be a 'Race Master' npc not Master Race , who could show all the races and record holders. Deeds and quests could easily be created around this hobby, and titles could be earned.
Prizes could be awarded in the form of medals and cups, and these could be viewed in the 'Collections' tab. There could also be seasonal races during each festival. Aug 24 , AM Glad I searched forum for this topic I too would like to add my 2c to this topic.
I have been playing for a little while and have discovered Fishing Hobby Master I have been Using the hobby, but, to my dismay, The only Hobby available is Fishing.
While this is a Hobby to most, there are folks who make this a Profession. Not in game that I know of Earlier in this thread, Animal Husbandry was mentioned. I think this is a nice idea, and maybe not to hard to implement. I don't know. The point of reply to this thread is that having just 1 hobby seems lacking.
Arkenstone, Carndor, Tanred. Aug 24 , PM I would like to see some fun new hobbies as well! Painting sounds great This series is meant for newcomers, but may also help veteran players find more to love about the game. Have you ever wanted to go fishing but didn't want to deal with the mess of tackle, bait, and slippery fish?
Well, now you can -- from the comfort of your computer, with the beautiful landscape of LOTRO around you! There have been a lot of suggestions for additional hobbies on the forums, but so far we just have the one. The fishing hobby allows you to equip a fishing rod and cast a line pretty much anywhere you can find a body of water. Different areas are harder to fish than others, and you'll have to level up your fishing skill in order to improve. There are 7 different fishing rods available in LOTRO, each with a bonus to the fishing skill after the basic one.
Some quests may not provide you with trash items at festivals at least. However, not everything you catch will be an actual fish. Trash can be sold to vendors for a pitiful amount of coin! The more things you catch the more you will improve your skill. This is not one-fish-per-point however. As with class deeds, you can only increase your fishing skill by a certain amount each day. I had thought it was 10 per day, but Emerose here managed 11 on day 1.
The maximum skill excluding bonuses from crafted rods is These are:. However, there are titles available for advancing your fishing skill and catching specific fish, for example. Brewing: Why not add more recipes to provisioning. Knitting: Again, just add more costume recipes to tailoring. Husbandry: hmmm. I have no real reasoning why I think this would not work other than a gut feeling. Stuff I think does work as a hobby Alchemy: hmm, potions can already be made by scholars, however if you combine with with fireworks , and maybe the ability to transmute different metals into higher grades of metals cost being maybe or higher.
For instance 2 bars of Silver can be transmuted into 1 bar of gold. This I think would be interesting hobby. Also alchemy could be used to break down metals into there base components. Mean trash loot could be melted down into a piece of ore or something. Collections : By far one of the easiest to implement, and also a lot of fun.
Be them coins, butterflies, insects, ancient artifacts, collections would make great additions to display in homes. Exploration: This one could be tricky as there are already rewards for exploration.
Maps being in keeping with tolkien lore and everything. This would be able to let you mark additional locations on your map, be it creatures, places of interest etc. You would have to stay in location scribing the details that would appear on your map. Perhaps maps could then be traded? Painting: I really like this idea, you set up your easle and capture the image you are looking at, painting should take a few minutes to do, and with skill progression, the quality of the image could be increased.
Example, Apprentice: Rough Sketch. Journeyman : line drawing. Expert : watercolours. Master : oil painting. And various qualities of each level. Gardening: Another one I really like, plant and grow your own flowers in your kinships house garden.
Create rockeries, plant seeds, shrubs, and tend to the plants, or they become wild, or even die out. Not sure on the progression level of this, perhaps someone else could finish this thought off. Last edited by Gith; at AM.
