Update July Carriageworks Farmers Market will be open every Sat from 8am — 1pm as a shop-and-go service. It will be operating in line with current NSW Health guidelines with one person per four square metre capacity.

Yo u can continue to support the market via the stallholders online sites This busy Saturday morning market is housed in an old railway blacksmith shed near Redfern train station. I always enjoy chatting with the stallholders who are more than happy to talk about their products and answer any questions you have.

The market is the perfect spot to fill your picnic basket with all sorts of local delicacies before heading out to explore Sydney. There over 70 regular stalls that rotate throughout the month with about 40 or so trading each week. An hour or so here is a fantastic way to start the weekend, and it is a good halfway point on an early morning walk exploring the inner west.

The market features mainly organic and sustainable locally sourced produce from farms and providers across NSW. There is an excellent range of goods from fresh flowers to artisan cheeses, local oysters, organic chocolate and plenty of organic vegetables.

Before moving to Australia, TH and I did a couple of trips here, partly to help make up our minds to leave the convenience of Singapore, and partly to make sure we will like living here. One of the things that really helped push me in this direction is the lovely farmers markets in this country. The first one we visited in Australia is in Melbourne, called the Queen Victoria Markets and it was fabulous.
