Yes, we're really lucky because we only live 15 mins drive away. We always arrive ridiculously early to be in the queue the minute check in opens! However last year this backfired a little, I think Thomson were checking in 2 flights in the same queue. So when our queue opened we rushed to join the line, but there were people already there checking in for the previous flight , I assume check in for that was about to close.

So maybe the bag drop will be better for us, we will see! I'm just very paranoid about losing cases. I know in many circumstances, cases get returned at a later time however when my parents' case was lost on the way to Cuba, it was never seen again.

I believe bag drop desks are the same as the normal check in ones but you have to have checked in online a week before in order to be able to use them. I could be wrong! Thomson have a lot of check in desks, but the queue to get to them is generic.

I didn't really notice the Thomson desks when we went through the airport in June to say whether they had separate bag drop desks or not, but if there are the queues will be the same, all flights dropping bags in the one queue. I do not understand ' hours before departure'.
