How does shelby kill manfred

Back in , Manfred bought the entire stock of Royal 5 spare parts for a very low price or in his words, "a song". Scott visits him for the first time in ten years, bringing along Lauren , when trying to figure out the type of typewriter used to type an address on an envelope Lauren found.

Manfred and Scott share a drink of scotch and Scott gives him the envelope to look at. Examining it with his magnifying glass, Manfred identifies the writing as being from a Royal 5 and reveals he is the only one with records on the current owners of a Royal 5.

After he goes to get the client list from the back, the Origami Killer bashes his head in with a typewriter. Scott and Lauren later find his body. Why wouldn't Shelby wipe the books, though? If Lauren's fingerprints were found on those, wouldn't that be another thing you'd have to wipe off before you left?

That just didn't make much sense to me when you have to be so thorough everywhere else, including wiping off Manfred's glass which, to my recollection, you never actually touch.

I think a more pertinent question to this scene is why Scott arrives there in the first place. He ends up killing someone that he likes, over some random hooker. Even if you assume he is a cold blooded killer and as such has no compunction about ending some random old guys life pretty inconsistent with the entirety of his thoughts, that we can listen to then you have to ask - why didn't he just kill Lauren?

Why take her along? People talk about him killing Manfred to "tie up loose ends" but they wouldn't be loose if he just killed the silly whore in the first place! He doesn't need her envelope. User Info: DerekTah. This is my problem with Shelby whipping prints. Fingerprints cannot be timestamped. Meaning the only thing they know is that Shelby was in the store.

It would not prove that Shelby was there at the time of the attack, hell it may not even prove he was there the day of the attack. The only thing Shelby needs to remove his prints from is the murder weapon. I mean think about it, if your in a bank and later it is robbed. Do you think you might be called in because your prints were on the counter?

User Info: CrazyGamer Scott takes Lauren along because of his love for his own mother. She was the one person him and John had when they were kids and in his own twisted serial killer way he cares for her because she is a mother who lost a child, just like his own mother Ann Shepard.

Its the same reason why he sends her away at the end. He didn't expect to get caught, he cared for her, and didn't think she would ever find out he is the killer. Thus she would go on thinking Scott Shelby is an all around nice guy trying to help some people out.

Also I notice in other topics some people say that Scott is doing the investigation to cover his tracks but he really never is investigating anyone. He became a PI to get the right to investigate people so he could legally and un suspectingly check in on the mothers of the children he has killed. Then Lauren comes to him and he has to do all the work around to make her think hes a good guy. Oh and it also explains why he would attack Kramer, out of revenge for Lauren.

He just kept his guise of PI in case old Kramer ends up alive, obviously he wouldn't want a rich influential tycoon knowing his secret. More topics from this board In-game Nudity? General 8 Answers Avoid cutting your finger off?

It would be too easy if his thoughts went along the lines of "oh, I killed Manfred, now to pretend I don't know what's going on and check on him. I want to know how he killed him in the first place Did he run back, do all that stuff, and return to his exact position in the front room while the camera was focused on Lauren??

Isn't it? He did it to the chiming of the clocks, so Lauren wouldn't hear the thud. It would have taken all of 30 seconds to smack him on the head, wipe off fingerprints and retrieve the information about repairing the typewriter. He's right though, there's not enough time. He's going to know Lauren is so fascinated by the little music box that she isn't going to notice? You don't hear footsteps or anything. It's not exactly like Shelby can sneak around that easily. It's pretty absurd. Mythbusters would annihilate that scene.

I'm a woman But really, if he ran back, did the deed, then run back into the exact position when Manfred went back AND, he's a big fella His asthma is fairly inconsistent. He battles people at the end without a problem. Not to say there aren't other problems with the scene, like the silhouette of him picking up the typewriter not being noticed, but I can suspend my disbelief for the asthma.

He's also very good at sneaking around, as evidenced before he shoots Paco, he doesn't make too much noise when he walks. But he definitely wouldn't be able to move quickly and quietly. Scott's thoughts aren't a goof really, they're just vague and side stepping to make sure the player doesn't figure out who the killer is as easily on their first playthrough.
